We sent a small team up to Manchester at the weekend to attend the English championships. The event was well attended from around the country with 340 competitors.
With very tough competition from a number of TKD groups I am proud to announce some awesome results by Warwick & Leamington TKD members:
Due to illness pre and post Christmas our student of the year awards were delayed.
However I’m pleased to be able to announce the successful recipients:
The year at WLTKD was rounded off with a coloured belt grading with 33 students being selected as reaching the standards necessary to try for promotion. Master Archer the President of the T-UK led the grading panel.
A number of elements are taken into account for promotion, attendance levels, technical ability and attitude. Both physical and mental attitudes we feel are important to be taken in to consideration and recognised.
We are pleased to announce that we will be starting a new class at Campion School, Sydenham in the new year.
The new class will be a joint venture between Warwick TKD and North Leamington TKD, both clubs are affiliated to the T-UK Association and will be on Friday nights from 6.30 - 7.30pm.
Our club competed in the Taekwon-Do UK British Championships at the weekend with 36 of our members competing.
What an excellent performance from our members with a total of 41 medals being won - 11 bronze, 13 silver and 17 gold, phenomenal!!
WLTKD’s chief instructor Mr Martin Noddings came out of a 7 year retirement from competing for last weekends Inter-services championships, an annual competition between the RAF, Army and Navy.
The competition was held at the naval base HMS Nelson, Portsmouth in their glass roofed sports hall on an exceptionally hot day, the temperature reaching 32 degrees.
The competition began with the sparring split down into two weight categories and each fight being 2 x 2 minute rounds. The competition was fierce as expected with a lot of young military personal competing for their respective services.
I am please to be able to formally announce the appointment of Eva Neale, 2nd degree black belt, as the newest member of the Assistant Instructor team at WLTKD.
Eva will join the existing excellent team line up as part of the junior member development team working along side established and very experienced instructors Molly and Jack Rowe to strengthen this part of the club.
Eva works as a Senior Town Planner for the County Council and is also a mother of 2 young boys. This appointment will bring further strength and depth to this part of the club and the instructor team as a whole.
WLTKD students excelled at the TUK Central region coloured belt grading last weekend with 39 students being promoted including 4 student to black tag, well done Thea Roberts, Aisha Yousof, Seb Perrier, Lexie Alferez, the next one is the big one.
We also had 3 'A' passes, well done Sienna Mannell, Gabe Bailey and Sudha Pathak, outstanding performances.
A great team effort by the instructor team to get all there students ready for the grading and performing at an exceptional standard, well done all.
Now we can open the doors to a new beginners quarterly intake to also start on their TKD journey and help to change their lives for the better.
This weekend our Instructor team attended the International Instructor Course in Dublin, Ireland held over 3 days and delivered by the ITF TKD Technical committee Grand Master Morano, Grand Master Lan and Master Jedut.
Attending the course from 11 different countries were nearly 300 black belts, including more than 30 Masters and 7 Grandmasters, doing what we all love. T-UK had 17 instructors at the event, 5 of those from WLTKD.
We had the last training sessions of the year tonight and as always the presentation of the students of the year awards, one adult student and one junior student.
The winning students displayed attributes of leadership, excellent attitude, standards and commitment and are role models in the club to their peers.
