The summer holiday season is now upon us and as normal student numbers attending class reduce. On top of this St Nicholas Sports Centre is closing down next week for refurbishment until September resulting in us having to change venue during this period to Aylesford School (in the gym we conduct Fight Club in).
As in previous years we will implement a summer class timetable. As of next Tuesday 24th July we will train on a Tuesday at Aylesford school. The class will be from 7pm – 8.30pm and will be a combined class for coloured and black belts. Fridays class will stay as normal, Warwick Space 6.30-7.30pm.
The T-UK MCM Championships were held on Sunday in Stratford with a number of other organisations attending making it a successful and full day of competition.
A relatively small team from Warwick and Kineton attended due to a number of students away on holidays but those that did attend performed very well:
A number of Central Region instructors traveled to Manchester last Friday to attend the 3 day International Instructors Course under GM Marano, GM Lan and Master Lacquerer. Over the 3 days participants were taken through all patterns from Chon Ji to Tong Il in minute detail, step sparring, hosin Sool and sparring drills and techniques.
An excellent course learning a lot, consolidating exsisiting knowledge, being in the presence of excellence, meeting old friends, making new ones and bonding with colleagues. Well done all that attended investing in themselves, their clubs, their students progression and the Central area and T-UK standards.
This weekend saw the delivery of the 120th IIC in Manchester. At this event our very own Mr John Archer, President of T-UK, and Mr Ian Ridley, T-UK General Secretary, took their 7th degree black belt tests under the watchful eyes of Grand Master Morano, Grand Master Lan, Grand Master Ellis and a number of other UK Masters . I am pleased to announce and proud to say that they both passed, congratulations to our new Sahyun Archer and Sahyun Ridley from the Central Region instructors and students.
For people like myself with long limbs this is always a difficult and generally not a very pretty technique!! Here is a great tutorial on how to improve your technique, required at red tag grading.
Notice the kicking leg coming up straight at the beginning of the delivery with the foot chambered in a backward position, then with the rotation of the opposite knee outwards affecting the angle of the pelvis
