We are almost at the end of the year with just Friday’s class to go, then a well earnt break for both Instructors and students after a phenomenal year of fantastic performances in competitions with 40 medals won, gradings resulting in 55 promotions and amazing growth in both our Kids and adult classes, classes are buzzing.
So last night was the awarding of the student of the year awards. This is awarded to the coloured belt student in the adult class and children class that have demonstrated the tenets of TKD throughout the year, their attendance, technical ability, desire to improve, willingness to assist others in the class, overall attitude to training and their attitude to others in the club is taken into account with all the Instructors in the club having a vote of who the winners will be. This was very hard this year as we had a number of very deserving students. However I am proud to announce the winners:
This weekend saw the last coloured belt grading for the year held in Stratford under Master John Archer President of the T-UK Association.
The Warwick TKD students have been preparing hard for this grading ramping up the intensity at training leading up to it. This hard work and dedication showed in their performance with outstanding performances across the board.
Two members which i would like to highlight for their A passes are:
Also a big thank you to all the Instructors at the club who have also put their all into preparing the club for this grading.
Tonight saw our final Friday night club training session held at Warwick Space which has housed our Friday night classes for the last 5 years, a great community centre hall with an accommodating and a supportive management committee. Quite a sad night as I closed up tonight at the end of the class as we have been using it for so long and built up a great class of students in it.
So thank you Warwick Space, but great excitement as we move the class to the same venue as our Tuesday night classes at St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre run by Everyone Active cementing our relationship further with them at the Warwick prime location with plenty of free parking and much more space to train in.
Today three of our Black Belts were tested for promotion in Stratford Upon Avon under Master Archer and Master Ridley. The promotion test lasted a number of hours with candidates being tested on patterns, set sparring, self-defence techniques, free sparring, destruction and a thorough verbal test on theory and technical applications. It is with great pleasure and pride that I can announce the following promotion from Warwick TKD:
Rachel Hoult - Promoted to 2nd Degree
Keegan Costine - Promoted to 2nd Degree
Harry Hoult - Promoted to 1st Degree 1st star
Due to the fabulous growth of the Warwick TKD Friday night classes it has been necessary to look for a new bigger venue. After meetings with St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre management, where we hold our Tuesday night classes, we have come to an agreement for us to move our Friday night class here as well in to the main sports hall. The class will run from 7-8pm with the first class at this venue being on the 22nd November.
This further cements the excellent relationship and partnership that we have with Everyone Active leisure centre management company with both the T-UK clubs of Warwick and Stratford running all their primary club class nights in their facilities putting us in the heart of our communities premium health and fitness venues.
At Warwick we had been training hard for the last 2 months getting every one conditioned and prepared for the competition, this paid off with some excellent results well done all of you representing the club and performing at such a high standard:

John Hoult – Bronze Sparring, Silver - MS power breaking
Keegan Costine – Silver Patterns

The quarterly coloured belt grading for the TUK Central Area was held yesterday in Stratford Upon Avon with 11 students entered from the Warwick TKD club.
After 4 hours of thorough testing consisting of line work, patterns, set sparring free sparring, hosing sul and destruction, the children in the morning followed by the adults and juniors, I’m pleased to announce the results:
With the coloured belt grading just around the corner and the Mark Scriven championships next month the Central Region Fight club saw a good turnout with students from Warwick, Stratford and North Leamington clubs including some of Warwick TKD new white belts keen to invest time to make improvements for these events and to generally improve their TKD in this fun high energy class.
Today saw Warwick members being tested for black belt promotion in Manchester at the T-UK National grading under Masters Archer and Ridley.
After a thorough 4 hour grading process where all participants were pushed hard to demonstrate their skills and abilities, I’m pleased to announce that all students were successful awarded their promotion.
Well done all of you for being ambassadors for the club and keeping the high standards that we expect from our students, you all worked extremely hard to prepare for today and deserved your promotions:
John Hoult promoted to 2nd Degree
Roger Crockford promoted to 2nd degree
Ellis Roberts promoted to 1st degree
This week we have seen three more knife attacks with fatalities in all cases, Jodie Chesney aged 17 in an unprovoked attack in London and Yousef Makki aged 17 in Manchester. These victims aren’t your typical gang member but young people from good families and neighbourhoods.
Looking at the BBC crime statistics we can see that knife attack rates are the highest they have ever been since records began and where we are based in the West Midlands, we are the second worst area for knife crime in England and Wales with only London being higher!!
