We are almost at the end of the year with just Friday’s class to go, then a well earnt break for both Instructors and students after a phenomenal year of fantastic performances in competitions with 40 medals won, gradings resulting in 55 promotions and amazing growth in both our Kids and adult classes, classes are buzzing.
So last night was the awarding of the student of the year awards. This is awarded to the coloured belt student in the adult class and children class that have demonstrated the tenets of TKD throughout the year, their attendance, technical ability, desire to improve, willingness to assist others in the class, overall attitude to training and their attitude to others in the club is taken into account with all the Instructors in the club having a vote of who the winners will be. This was very hard this year as we had a number of very deserving students. However I am proud to announce the winners:
Peter Gearing - Adult class Blue tag belt
Emmett Barnett - Green tag belt Children’s class
There was also a special award this year to Mrs Rachel Hoult (2nd Dan) who is the club secretary for her outstanding contribution to the club. Rachel takes her role in the club very seriously working closely with myself to improve the club systems and processes and taking ownership of many administrative aspects of the club which frees me up to concentrate on other important aspects to keep improving how we run the club and what we deliver to make the experience for our students the best we can; thank you for all your help Rachel.
I would also like to give a special mention out to Angelika Durrant and the Montague Chiropractor Clinic in Warwick who has kept me going treating my numerous injuries over the last year, fixing me up allowing me to keep training and teaching, thank you.
Lastly I need to recognise all the Assistant Instructors and black belts who make the club what it is, supportive and welcoming, helping me to deliver quality, enjoyable classes and assisting all our students in their personal growth and development journeys, what a great team.
