Well done to all our members who attended the England ITF Grandmaster seminar hosted by the T-UK in Stratford Upon Avon, great support and enthusiasm from the club as always.
The seminar was led by Grandmasters Ellis and Nardizzi. The seminar was broken down in to two halves coloured belts followed by a black belt only seminar. Each seminar consisted of a technical deep dive into all aspects of TKD.
When it comes to personal safety, the difference between vulnerability and security often lies in your ability to recognise threats early and respond effectively. By combining strategic frameworks like the OODA Loop, Cooper’s Colour Code, and Concentric Rings of Disturbance, you can cultivate a dynamic and layered approach to self-defence.
Elsa Klegg from our Warwick club has recently been selected for a place at the FA Emerging Talent Centre for football, on top of playing for both Coventry City Girls and her school team. She will take a 6 month sabbatical from TKD to concentrate on her football.
This is no surprise as since Elsa joined the club 3 years ago has developed in to a very mature young lady who hasn’t always found Taekwon Do easy but has become a role model for other junior members.
The year at WLTKD was rounded off with a coloured belt grading with 33 students being selected as reaching the standards necessary to try for promotion. Master Archer the President of the T-UK led the grading panel.
A number of elements are taken into account for promotion, attendance levels, technical ability and attitude. Both physical and mental attitudes we feel are important to be taken in to consideration and recognised.
WLTKD students excelled at the TUK Central region coloured belt grading last weekend with 39 students being promoted including 4 student to black tag, well done Thea Roberts, Aisha Yousof, Seb Perrier, Lexie Alferez, the next one is the big one.
We also had 3 'A' passes, well done Sienna Mannell, Gabe Bailey and Sudha Pathak, outstanding performances.
A great team effort by the instructor team to get all there students ready for the grading and performing at an exceptional standard, well done all.
Now we can open the doors to a new beginners quarterly intake to also start on their TKD journey and help to change their lives for the better.
Last weekend Warwick & Leamington TKD attended the T-UK Association Central Region coloured belt grading, the last one for 2021. WLTKD entered 31 students from the club having attained the right standards to qualify to be tested for promotion.
I am very pleased to announce that all our students passed and 9 of them with an A pass standard.
Well done all of you for your excellent preparation and performing at an exceptionally high standard:
The Taekwondo-UK Association black grading was held in Leamington Spa today under the Masters and senior expert grades of the Association. In the grading were eight Warwick & Leamington TKD club students testing for promotion.
After six hours of thorough and intense scrutiny I am pleased to be able to announce the following promotions:
Learning to have safety awareness in your daily life and the life skills of being able to defend yourself in todays society is essential.
We are pleased to announce that with the C-19 restrictions coming to a close on the 19th July that we are able to start running our Women’s only Self-defence courses again.
These one day courses run from 10am to 5pm on a Saturday and are aimed to empower women in their daily lives by building self-confidence and imparting knowledge and easy to remember and apply self-defence techniques if they are called to do so.
During the summer months with the leisure centre closed we were fortunate to be able to continue delivering training outdoors in St Nicholas Park which was great to be in the fresh air. However now the nights are drawing in and the weather is turning we needed to get back indoors.
Everyone Active were able to give us back our old Tuesday times in the Leisure Centre however not our Thursday or Friday slots as they were using the sports hall to deliver their own classes. The challenge we have, as many other sports and activities have, is finding a training venue with enough room to allow appropriate distancing during the class.
Post training and award giving we held our club Christmas meal out which is traditionally a curry celebrating an awesome year with a fabulous group of people; this year was no different apart from holding it at Warwick Spice. Thank you to all the students and Instructors who were able to make it, a thoroughly enjoyable night.
