The Taekwondo-UK Association black grading was held in Leamington Spa today under the Masters and senior expert grades of the Association. In the grading were eight Warwick & Leamington TKD club students testing for promotion.
After six hours of thorough and intense scrutiny I am pleased to be able to announce the following promotions:
Last night saw Warwick & Leamington TKD club back inside Everyones Active Warwick site, St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre.
After 2 months of conducting training sessions out in the park twice a week we returned to the leisure centres main sports hall delivering 2 classes. This is ideal timing as the club has a promotion grading test scheduled for the beginning of June so will allow a quality practice environment for the students.
Thursday nights are still being conducted out in the park however this gives the students a fantastic opportunity to practice their skills in a realistic environment wearing clothes and trainers on as they would be if they had to deal with a physical situation for real.
With the C-19 restrictions coming to an end and our ability to deliver face to face classes we have started a new beginners class. This consists of an adult class and a junior class delivering tailored progressive learning for all age groups and enabling parents and children to train at the same time.
This beginners class intake will come to an end next Tuesday as the last few places are taken with a waiting list put in place for when we are ready to take on the next intake of beginners in 2 months time.
We believe in delivering the best quality training. Producing progressive growth and development, enabling our members to learn an important life skill, to be able to defend themselves, which in turn improves self-confidence and self-esteem in a fun friendly, vibrant environment.
With the C-19 landscape changing in a positive way we are very excited to be able to start up face to face classes from the 30th March ensuring safe social distancing.
These classes will be delivered in St Nicholas Park, Warwick behind the Astro turf pitches as we did last summer. Our classes are a great mix of adults and children training in the same class enabling families to train together at the same time.
Self-defence is at the heart of what we deliver. This is the ultimate goal, to give every member of the club a better chance of defending themselves if they are unfortunate enough to get into a physical confrontation. We deliver a syllabus that helps each student to prepare themselves for this.
I am pleased to announce that we have a new club to add to our exsisting portfolio which will be held at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington Spa. This cements further our excellent relationship and partnership with Everyone Active.
Classes will be held every Thursday from the 9th January from 7-8pm in the main sports hall. As with the Warwick classes they will be a family class allowing parents and their children to train at the same time for convenience.
The classes will be mainly run by Mr Martin Noddings and Miss Molly Rowe with the assistance, when necessary, from the other Assistant Instructors from Warwick which will create an excellent consistency of quality across both clubs.
The added benefit to opening up the Leamington club is that it will give members of both clubs the ability to train 3 nights a week if they wanted with no price increase from the existing £40 per month unlimited club night training package which equates to £3.33 per class.
If you are new to martial arts and would like to give it a go you can get a free trial session, just email for phone to reserve one of the limited place, we are also offering free training for all of January if you join before the 15th of the month.
We are almost at the end of the year with just Friday’s class to go, then a well earnt break for both Instructors and students after a phenomenal year of fantastic performances in competitions with 40 medals won, gradings resulting in 55 promotions and amazing growth in both our Kids and adult classes, classes are buzzing.
So last night was the awarding of the student of the year awards. This is awarded to the coloured belt student in the adult class and children class that have demonstrated the tenets of TKD throughout the year, their attendance, technical ability, desire to improve, willingness to assist others in the class, overall attitude to training and their attitude to others in the club is taken into account with all the Instructors in the club having a vote of who the winners will be. This was very hard this year as we had a number of very deserving students. However I am proud to announce the winners:
This weekend saw the last coloured belt grading for the year held in Stratford under Master John Archer President of the T-UK Association.
The Warwick TKD students have been preparing hard for this grading ramping up the intensity at training leading up to it. This hard work and dedication showed in their performance with outstanding performances across the board.
Two members which i would like to highlight for their A passes are:
Also a big thank you to all the Instructors at the club who have also put their all into preparing the club for this grading.
Today three of our Black Belts were tested for promotion in Stratford Upon Avon under Master Archer and Master Ridley. The promotion test lasted a number of hours with candidates being tested on patterns, set sparring, self-defence techniques, free sparring, destruction and a thorough verbal test on theory and technical applications. It is with great pleasure and pride that I can announce the following promotion from Warwick TKD:
Rachel Hoult - Promoted to 2nd Degree
Keegan Costine - Promoted to 2nd Degree
Harry Hoult - Promoted to 1st Degree 1st star
Another T-UK British Championships is done and dusted with some excellent results from the awesome Warwick students. For a number of the students this was their first competition so some anxious white and yellow tag competitors, but a big step forward on their journey for personal growth and development as well as some silverware to take home.
